Its been an interesting week- New schedule, I have taken up a freelancing assignment (Building backend API’s for a Fintech startup) and met one key person who will be helping me figure out more about the retail distribution problem . Here are the 7 bullets of this week :

  1. Simple VS Easy- Quite surprising how many people don’t understand the difference between SIMPLE AND EASY. Just for the sake of it SIMPLE =~ Trivial and EASY =~ Execution is not hard. Many of us use them interchangeable which really messes up the messaging. More on it here -

2. [Dev bullet of the week ]- Intro to Lambda- With my Amazon Echo arriving soon, I am very excited to experiment with AWS Lambda to build Echo apps, This is the guide I used to get started -

3. The greatest High School speech I never got to hear- Randomly browsing I found this really insightful talk by Paul Graham(which he never got to deliver) , I wish someone had given me this talk when I was in high school . Please read the full transcript here-

4. Our love for ‘Tangibility’ or maybe ‘Certainty’- Why do we not mind spending 5k/night on drinks/dinner and but think 20 times (Thats my example) before purchasing a Rs 600 ebook which might just change the course of our life. Have not been able to think of a conclusive answer— Do I think I will never read the book, never end up learning anything from the book ? On the other hand the 5k dinner will make us very happy for the immediate term (causing nasty health problems in the long term). How do we avoid such behavioral traps ?

5. [Web series of the week] The Breaking point- Fantastic series which gives us insight into how our special forces train, develop physical and mental fitness. A must watch —

6. (SLIGHTLY LESS) Confusing Guide to Machine learning- The following guide to machine learning explains when NOT TO FOLLOW THE MACHINE LEARNING HYPE. Must read for all marketeers and product managers before they start asking their tech teams about using Machine learning:

7. [WTF bullet of the week] Even Julian Assange has BITCOIN -
