This week was the Diwali and birthday week — Full of good distractions and finally spent some time reflecting on the year gone by. Here are the 7 bullets of the week gone by-

  1. 31- I turned 31 on 20th October, 2017, its so strange that even though your age represents a grown up man but very little changes in your own mind, I still feel like a boy trying to figure out his path. This is very weird but a part of me refuses to grow up and sometimes it really gets irritating for people close to me — Not sure how to help this. Weird.
  2. Small things- We waste so much time sweating about the small things in life, this talk really nails the previous point.

It’s easy to identify these small things but really difficult to cut them out unless you are surrounded by people who think similarly.

3. [Marketing bullet of the week] Devmarketing.xyz- Full disclaimer: I have not purchased/read the book, but reading a lot of stuff by Justin Jackson I can guarantee this will prove to be the most useful marketing advice for developers who have just released their Saas products.

4. [Dev bullet of the week] Megaboilerplate- Since using cookiecutter for my Django projects I have become a huge fan of boilerplate projects. Megaboilerplate provides an awesome boiler plate for Express and Meteor projects. Check it out -

5. BITCOIN ~= FREE SPEECH- This small interview excerpt from 2013 of Naval Ravikant gives a very lucid view of Bitcoin(& Blockchain), must view for people who want to understand the impact of Blockchain in layman terms.

6. [IMPACT BULLET OF THE WEEK] Navgurukul.org- A friend has been running an amazing experiment- Train underprivileged kids to become entry- level computer programmers. They have gone as far as even making students stay in a hostel so they can focus totally on classes and not worry about where their next meal is going to come from. I seriously hope this experiment succeeds, last i knew some of these kids had started taking small projects in HTML/CSS. You can donate to this cause here :

7. [WTF bullet of the week] Population of Uttar Pradesh- The following link gives the countries whose population is lesser than UP.

It is mind numbing to know that UP would have been the 5th largest country by population if it were independent, no doubt it is un-governable. Also, mind you ,this is when Uttarakhand has been carved out as a separate state.
