On March 13th, 2016, Lee Se-dol, a South Korean professional Go player competed against Google’s AI ‘AlphaGo’ which turned out to be the fight of the century.

The probability that Lee Seo-dol would put the 78th stone on that particular spot was 0.007%.He placed the one and only move that lead him to victory, and he became the one and only person who won the game against AI AlphaGO.

Our life is imperfect, and probability, a continuity of uncertainty which is uncontrollable, continues. There are two choices which we can choose at this moment. One is accepting the uncertainty, the other is overcoming the uncertainty.

We can’t place ‘the move’ like Lee Se-dol, but we do put lots of efforts to increase probability. For baseball, batters who have a high batting average are recruited. For advertising, advertisements are placed on the spots where people gather a lot. Every December, South Korea becomes a special ‘warzone’. It a ‘Kindergarten Admission War’ of parents that have children between age 3 to 5. Especially, the state-funded kindergartens that are reliable are highly competitive to get in to the level of several hundreds to one. Parents apply to as many kindergartens as possible by narrowing down the scope starting from the places near to their homes. In order to break competition, parents apply to each and every kindergarten and run to the drawing.

Bigger problem begins from here. Parents watch the ball drawing scene in an auditorium. However, some places do online drawing as there are lots of people who are doubtful about the system. Disgruntled voices arise as there are no way to find out which program is used or to examine the system from the process to the result.

There are kindergartens that automatically accepts the younger brother or sister if the elder brother or sister attends the kindergartens. As a result, there are backlashes called the system as “hereditary”.
