So what kicked off the 7Chain project?

Free yourself, like a gazelle from the hand of the hunter,
like a bird from the snare of the fowler. <Proverbs 6:5>
Just like how the movie Old Boy cites the above phrase from the bible, everyone once in a while goes through ordeals and there are many ways out of them.
We would like to let you into a story of these men, who dare to pioneer their fates on their own.
What convinced these seasoned game developers
Most team members at the current 7Chain team have been used to develop years of game projects ranging from PC products to mobile RPGs.
These people are with a wide range of specialties including programming, business development, marketing, and artists, with an average of 13 years in their professional experience. So what could have possibly turned them away from their previous professions?
The games sector enjoyed a rapid growth upon entering the 21st century, and so have our team members. But soon as a random item (or ‘Gacha’) system began attracting attention from more developers, things began taking a toll on the wrong side. This micro-transaction monetization was without a doubt an excellent model for revenue with precise engineering / modeling, but the market became saturated with games with this element integrated onto them. Not only this has resulted in less numbers of games being released, but it also has contributed significantly in destroying trust between developers and their users.
Games were prepared with Gacha systems with even less probabilities, and yielded further problems.
For example — if a developer decides to assign 1% probability of obtaining a legendary item in a game with 10,000 users, it would mean that there would be around 100 of them that would be yielded provided every one of users tried pulling that item. Fearing there are too many of them, developer decides to lower the probability below 1%, putting many of their users in doubt on whether this item truly exists. Things would get really ugly if anyone finds out the probability has been manipulated in any ways. Mistakes are always inevitable in an environment full of probabilities and statistics, but any deliberate attempt to manipulate would potentially be faced with serious consequences.
More developers began releasing probabilities to public as this problem involving Gacha systems became more evident in today’s societies, but it seems they have got a long way to go; this monetization model has existed for years as it was proven to be one of the most effective ways to keep user interest at its highest.
There is no way out of this without a new ecosystem
It is never an easy decision for any developer to give up on a cash cow element such as a Gacha system — this could easily generate thousands of Dollars on something that merely bears any cost to create. There is no doubt that developers would continue releasing games with such element at this stage, while getting booed at by their users.
Games of similar genres with such system would not be free from competition, thus they would be spending more to market their games. This would in turn result in Gacha systems with even more severe probabilities. There is no end to this cycle.
Having to understand the root of this problem, we concluded that it would be difficult for a developer to be free of accusations using a centralized model where decisions are originated from a single point. Items with probability would always exist in games, and it would be saddening to see quality game contents perishing behind the problems of marketing cost and trust.
A new kind of gaming platform 7Chain is aiming for
Just like the phrase ‘Free Your Self’, 7Chain team was initiated as a part of process aimed to save the games we dear to our hearts and the current ecosystem. And we believe we got the much desired answer from the R&D process on the Blockchain technology. What if there is a model where users could actively participate in producing probabilities? What if an entire process could be permanently logged onto Blockchain using the Smart Contract?
We would like to picture an entirely new ecosystem that would be based on trust between all parties involved. We would love to see developers to focus on more quality contents without having to worry about monetization utilizing this ecosystem based on trust of everyone.
7Chain is the world’s first gaming platform that enables users to participate in Random Number Generation, or RNG.
Moving forward, we would like to share as much detail as possible regarding gaming experience, probabilities and our visions.
Your kind attention on this project is much appreciated.
Thank you.
