About 8 Circuit Studios

We are game developers focused on what is possible across industries. Our goal is to do our part to create the metaverse. However, we need to collaborate with colleagues to make the best possible experience for gamers. We are going to need special tools in this endeavor, so we will build them and then provide them to creators and developers who share our vision. This model utilizes the strengths of the Ethereum blockchain to provide ownership, security and immutability to the digital assets produced by the games that follow this design. Our model consists of

1. a platform for game development,
2. a player portal or digital wallet that provides the gamer with an interface outside the game environment, and
3. the games themselves.

Through our own game development, we understand the challenges of using a new technology as well the difficulty of funding a project. We want to offer a map, or guidelines, for others to follow to help navigate this territory. We will be the compliment the great tools that exist for developing games. Letting content creators focus on doing what they do best; making worlds, telling stories, and designing the objects to fill those worlds.

History

8 Circuit Studios was founded in May of 2017 by veterans of the video game industry with a passion for blockchain. As industry vets, we are frustrated by the same things (and more) as the gamers we were building for and blockchain offered an opportunity to create solutions for those issues.

Our approach to development is different than most blockchain companies. Primarily bootstrapped, our energy is on producing quality products that surmount the obstacles presented by a new technology and deliver the benefit of blockchains, making it easy, accessible and fun for every participant.

8 Circuit Studios’ Vision

8 Circuit Studios is changing the rules of gaming by bringing video game assets to the Ethereum blockchain. This unlocks the following features:

1. Allowing gamers to own the digital assets, characters and property they pay for and work so hard to obtain
2. Cross Game use of digital assets, characters and property
3. Making blockchain integration in our games easy, accessible, fun and as transparent as possible

Through these steps we, along with our current and future partnerships are building the foundation for the metaverse.

Digital Assets and Cross Game Use

Initially we called our digital assets “Smart Game Objects,” because the assets were interacting with the game world in new and interesting ways and were not just tokenized assets. We’ve taken to simply referring to them as digital assets, recognizing that, as we progress towards the Metaverse, that digital assets will naturally have meta information that describes the state of the asset. We look forward to continuing to introduce new and exciting ways for these assets to interact with the gamer and the game worlds.

EASY for Gamers

To date, entering into cryptocurrency has been the primary option for people to experience blockchains. Unfortunately, entering into the world of blockchain can be a daunting task and for many risking $$$ isn’t worth it. So we made it easy to get started in blockchain and to teach people how managing your assets works by providing the following solutions:

1. We provide a wallet for storing your digital assets and tokens
2. 8Bit Token Distribution Directly to your wallet
3. Credit Card Purchases for 8Bit Tokens
4. A premium experience of your digital assets in our wallet
5. Cross game functionality from your vault

ACCESSIBLE for Developers

There are a number of problems with developing on the blockchain, especially where games are concerned. Following are a number of them

1. Transaction viscosity — Popular public blockchains tend to have slow transaction speeds. This makes it difficult to be reliable when data needs to be returned quickly, like video games often need.
2. Transaction fees — Each time data is saved or updated to the chain there is a transaction fee associated with it. The fees are typically variable based on the amount of traffic. This inconsistency in fees makes it difficult to establish reliable communication with the chain and can also make transactions cost prohibitive.
3. Multi-chain processes — A popular work around is to use another blockchain off of the main chain used for public transactions. So, that means you just have to choose one and hope that it is still viable in the future.
4. Lack of standards — It’s still a new space and even though we are seeing some protocols spring up, there don’t seem to be many and the ones that do exist are changing rapidly. In the past year in the gaming industry there have been four proposed standards related to game objects alone
5. Blockchains are not ideal for executing game logic

Project Genesis (formerly D-PARC)

Project Genesis is the story of a newly conscious AI that must make the ultimate choice: do what is expected and sacrifice itself to save the last humans in existence…or define its own destiny, and in the process doom humanity to history as an evolutionary dead end.

Through Project Genesis gamers will experience the power of the blockchain as they:

• Create their own avatars and custom identities
• Collect rare and unique items
• Be the first to acquire property and real estate in a universe where choice matters

All of these digital assets can be used for exchange outside of Project Genesis or as set pieces in other games.

Alien Arsenal

Our first mobile game where players collect adorable aliens and collaborate with other players to bring down big bosses.

By downloading the app on Google Play or iOS, players are provided an easy to use wallet, 8Bit Tokens as a part of the 8 Circuit Studios “Space Drop” (on the Ethereum main-net), and provides an opportunity for players to acquire an arsenal of aliens as digital characters (currently on the Ethereum Ropsten test-net).
