The croissant was created by August Zang sometime around 1838 or 1839. Marie Antoinette, queen of France popularized the croissant when she wanted her favorite dish from her homeland in Austria. Croissants are not hard to make, they just take a long time to make because they are made with a dough called laminated dough which has 1000 layers. In my opinion, American food is food that came from other countries. Foods like burgers or french fries came from other countries. So, next time when you eat a croissant, think about how much it went through to come to America.
