The place that grows 34,000 acres each summer is California. Strawberries grow the most in the summer and strawberries are a type of rose. Strawberries have more Vitamin C than oranges! Americans eat 8 pounds of strawberries a year.
National strawberry day is celebrated on May 20th. National Strawberry Day was created to celebrate these red fruits with burst with perfection!
There is a museum in Belgium just for strawberries. California produces 80% of the strawberries that the USA eats. The average strawberry has 200 seeds.
When berries are harvested they go to a refrigerating facility and are stuffed into cardboard boxes that then get sold in. They are loaded onto trains, cars, buses, trucks and airplanes. There is good news and bad news to this process. When they get transported, the cars, buses, etc., send pollution into the air.
The good news is that you can get strawberries in a local farm, roof farms or even make your own garden and plant lots of strawberries. I myself also visited a farm in NYC on a roof. It had lots of plants, and I grabbed some seeds to take home and plant in the summer. The seeds that I picked were strawberries.
