What are Special Interest Groups?

88mph special interest groups (SIGs) are community-led groups that contribute to particular aspects of 88mph. SIGs can receive funding from the governance treasury denoted in MPH tokens, and are answerable to the MPH token-holder governance. SIGs will live inside the 88mph Discord server, and each SIG will have its own channel.

Initial SIG lineup

We will organize three initial SIGs to get things off the ground: SIGMeme, SIGDev, and SIGGov. They are responsible for marketing, development, and governance respectively. We will give 88 MPH tokens as seed funding to each SIG, coming from the governance treasury, and more funding may be given in the future.

SIGMeme

SIGMeme will be responsible for getting the word out for 88mph. Its tasks include meme-making, organizing events, writing blog posts, and so on.

SIGDev

SIGDev will seek to develop new features for 88mph, as well as build new protocol adapters to connect 88mph with more yield-generating protocols.

SIGGov

SIGGov will design the governance process for 88mph, including how to draft governance proposals, how a proposal gets put before MPH holders, and so on.

How do you join an SIG?

We want to see as many people as possible have a chance to contribute to 88mph, but also want to ensure that whoever participates will have the best interests of 88mph in mind. Therefore, we will require SIG members to hold at least 88 MPH tokens in their wallet at all times, which is the only requirement for joining an SIG. This criteria will be enforced using the Collab.Land Discord bot.

Of course, in order to join an SIG you also need the existing SIG members to accept your application. Each SIG can have its own process for accepting new members.

Since the three initial SIGs do not have existing members, we will let in anyone who wants to contribute.

How do you create an SIG?

Just create a channel in the Special Interest Groups category in our Discord server! Creating an SIG does not guarantee receiving funding from the MPH governance treasury, but if you make good contribution that’s definitely going to work in your favor ;) Ultimately, whether or not you receive funding from the governance treasury will be decided by MPH token-holder governance.
