San Francisco Blockchain Week 2019 was held last week in San Francisco from October 28 to November 3. It’s one of the world’s largest events focusing on innovation and entrepreneurship in the world of blockchain.
VeChain co-hosted BUIDLer Assembly and we were honored to be a part of their panel, discussing creating true value for the real economy by leveraging blockchain technology. The lineup for the panel discussion included John Dempsey, our CEO and Founding Director at 8Hours, along with Sunny Lu (Co-founder & CEO at VeChain), Xiaoning Nan (Founder & CEO at OceanEx), Zack (Co-founder & COO at CyberX), and Alyssa Tsai (Founder & CEO at PANONY and PANews). The panel addressed a topic that has been on everyone’s mind; which was how to let users easily navigate and explore the blockchain and related tools to address public concerns and increase adoption efforts.
During this discussion, Sunny Lu, Co-founder & CEO at VeChain, spoke a lot about blockchain technology and its practical business applications, while our own CEO and Founding Director, John Dempsey commented on this during the discussion by adding that VeChain’s underlying blockchain technology has great synergy for NFC physical object tracking. Their blockchain solutions are conducive for actual businesses process, especially for our product that deals with both physical and digital assets.
We rely heavily on VeChainThor’s advanced fee delegation and transaction batching features such as MPP ( Multi-Party Payments) and MTT (Multi-Task Transactions), which are natively implemented in our core product.
MPP is incredibly important for a smooth user experience, which is key for mass user adoption of blockchain. MPP allows for the 8Hours to sponsor users’ transactions, making it more user-friendly for an audience that may not be blockchain-savvy enough to calculate the amount of gas they need in their wallet.
Currently, VeChainThor is the only blockchain with native fee delegation, which allows for a low barrier to entry where 8Hours can offset fees for users or sponsor the transaction entirely on behalf of the user if the user doesn’t have sufficient funds in their wallet. This allows our intended casual audience of families and gamers to not have to master blockchain before using EHrT.
With MTT, 8Hours Platform can batch dependent tasks together for the certainty of gas cost. This allows for more flexibility and reliability in the context of game mechanics adding metadata and multiple simultaneous transactions to a single collectible.
We are seeing an increased desire from users wanting to integrate blockchain into their daily life; as well as from businesses wanting to integrate blockchain into their existing business model.
With this rise of interest, we can move forward with supporting different projects and companies using the VeChain RFID technology, making it very easy to trace and authenticate certain physical assets that are in need of true ownership and tracking. This tracking can include, but cannot be limited to, collectors memorabilia and even certain luxury goods.
With that being said, the 8Hours ecosystem is developed for game enthusiasts, and the Blockchain will only enhance the user experience. In this day and age, there is a sufficient amount of game engineers and programmers that work with blockchain to create more uses for this technology beyond what we can imagine.
Live Demo of the PlayTable
In addition to our appearance in the panel discussion, 8Hours had a booth in the gaming section (a big shout out to Berkeley Xcelerator for saving us a spot). During the exhibition, many attendees visited our booth, played our games, and instantly fell in love with the PlayTable and 8Hours ecosystem. Although it’s easier to translate and integrate Blockchain technology in the gaming community, however, there are still many questions regarding our ecosystem and how are we using Blockchain technology to further our mission.
8Hours and PlayTable provide not just a hardware gaming console, but also provide an entire ecosystem in the gaming industry. With our ecosystem, we are pioneering the gaming industry by encouraging developers and game companies to create games that interact with the blockchain to link their games to physical assets. All while ensuring that these assets can be secured and authenticated via the blockchain. More information can be found on our website and whitepaper.
Overall, we had such an amazing time at the SFBW connecting and networking with the many participants of the conference and we cannot wait to visit again in the coming years. It was incredibly exciting to be a part of such a supportive cohesive community.
To understand further about our ecosystem, we will discuss it fully in our next article. Stay tuned, exciting things are coming!
