Every partner and advisor in our team is fundamental to the success of the entire ecosystem. We are very honored to have such a notable foundation of advisors and investors that wholeheartedly believe in our team, products, and foundation. Let us introduce you to our earliest investor whom many of you may be familiar with, Jateen Parekh.
There is so much about Jateen Parekh that we would love to share, from being a product engineer at Amazon to selling his company to iHeartMedia.
Jateen Parekh co-founded his current company, Jelli, and serves as a Chief Technology Officer where he leads the team and set the company’s overall internal technology direction. He also helps define the company’s internal strategy for Jelli’s technology to make sure everything aligns with his business and industry goals. His company’s platform reaches more than 270 million listeners monthly and serves billions of ad impressions per year. During the past 16 years, Parekh has developed innovative platforms and assembled teams to redefine consumer experiences, which makes him so valuable to enterprises. In 2018, Jelli was acquired by IHeartMedia, the largest audio company in America.
And there is more to Jateen.
Before Jelli, Parekh was recruited by Amazon as the FIRST employee as the Head of Advanced Technology for the Kindle project at Lab126. He was heavily involved with the product architecture, development, advanced technology research, roadmap definition, and was instrumental in almost all aspects of the first few generations of the product.
In the early days of his career, he was an engineer and architect at ReplayTV which launched the first Digital Video Recorder (DVR), consequently forever altering the viewing behavior of the TV audience, which is all of us. How significant was that accomplishment? Additionally, he was the technical lead for Pronto, the first consumer, internet-enabled, universal remote control, and architect of several new platforms intended for TV delivered e-coupon and digital wallet systems, domestic digital assistants and Internet-enabled set-top products at Philips Research in Palo Alto. He was also involved in many other products which include Progio, a Fitness PDA, and Global Village’s Newscatcher, the first persistent wireless content delivery service for PCs before mass broadband adoption.
Jateen becoming our advisor and investor.
A connection like this doesn’t happen often, and we knew right from the start; he was a perfect fit for our puzzle. In the early years of our project, we would go and pitch our presentation to many groups of angel investors. We attended a pitch event knowing that Jateen was going to be there and that it would be a perfect opportunity to share our concept of PlayTable with him, as well as captivate him with our plans with tokens and the Blockchain technology. Once we had pitched to Jateen, he was impressed and told us that we reminded him a lot of his ambitions of building technology that would change the world for the better. And the rest was history.
With his extensive experience with hardware products, he has been guiding us through the entire journey of the product development process. The 8Hours Foundation continues to build strong partnerships with experienced industry veterans and trailblazers. We look forward to announcing more information in the upcoming weeks.
