An eye-opening AI- and WebAR-activated art gallery took place in LA at the Women in Entertainment Summit and at ART+TECH 2 exhibit at the Infinity Festival Hollywood in October and November.

The Women in Motion Augmented Reality art exhibit by creative studio Studio Moshon brought to life oil paintings of inspirational women in entertainment, transforming them from static portraits into an immersive and interactive experience. Visitors watched as oil paintings of celebrities including Ava DuVernay, Geena Davis, Dee Rees and Meredith Walker sprang to life, and listened to the women share their unique stories.

Each original oil painting (painted by artist Sara Riding) had gone through a series of AI processes to create a fully animated portrait, and were then used as image targets for WebAR. Attendees were able to scan a QR code at the exhibit or type in a URL to activate each painting.

“We’re so glad to have shared Studio Moshon’s Women in Motion Augmented Reality art exhibit with the audience at our Fifth Annual Summit,” said Renee Rossi, Co-founder of Women in Entertainment. “With this beautiful artwork integrated with cutting-edge technology, Sara has created a new, innovative storytelling platform to share women’s journeys in the entertainment industry and amplify their voices.”

The WebAR experience is powered by 8th Wall and the AI software is by EbSynth. You can try the experience out for yourself below— simply scan the QR code if you’re on a desktop and then point your phone at the image:
