Welcome to Protocol Weekly: POA
POA Network is an open-sourced Ethereum sidechain that offers smart contract solutions for scalability and interoperability within blockchain networks. POA provides developers with the flexibility to code in Ethereum standards with the added benefits of POA Network’s solutions to scalability and interoperability in blockchain networks. POA Network has a growing ecosystem of open-source projects that deliver key solutions for the Ethereum community including an open-source full-featured block explorer BlockScout, an array of Bridges for interoperability between EVM chains, and Nifty Wallet to focus on usability of real-world applications.
What problem does it solve?
What POA Network offers is an immediately available solution to Ethereum. We know some of the disadvantages of Ethereum such as scaling, network congestion and expensive transactions. Since launching our mainnet in December 2017 we have been able to solve all those shortcomings that currently are hindering adoption for Ethereum by utilizing a Proof of Authority consensus and a second layer called Identity at Stake. Ethereum based DApps can easily deploy to POA Network without having to change a line of their code and can then make use of all the benefits that comes with it.
How does this help the community?
With POA Network, developers can deploy their DApps and have the ideal user experience they envisioned today. We also understand the issues facing developers in the ecosystem and as such have worked hard on creating multiple open source projects including BlockScout, an open source Ethereum explorer, allowing any Ethereum based chain to have a world class full featured explorer.
