Day 2: Work
Waking up after a 26-hour flight should be made illegal. It is not easy for the most nocturnal all-nighter types too!
So we did not know how to run the hot water in the shower so I had a shower in ice cold water at sub-20 temperatures (degrees Celcius yeah, I am *not* used to Fahrenheit yet), or to turn on the heater so I basically woke up with a sniffle. I just wanted to rebain-in-by-blankie-all-day. After much annoyance, I was up and about, and walked to work this morning. What a beautiful morning! Clear blue skies with cirrus clouds all over. And I went clickity-clack in my heels.
This company is amazing. My work pass was ready, laptop delivered to me, a morning of induction, my manager came down to welcome me and took me for lunch, and to top it all a walking tour of my neighbourhood! I felt so much love! The work culture is incredibly professional and I envision that for my country some day. Where people respect each others’ time, effort and resources. What amazes me about working abroad, is how much respect people have for their own work which in turn makes the atmosphere so professional. No work is less or more compared to another. Dignity of labour is very very high and I love that about working here.
The walking tour was done by this lovely lady and the tour turned into a grocery shopping spree for us. Hey, you cannot put six girls into a group, take them to a store and not expect them to shop!
Legs in aggressive pain, and eyelids drooping while I tried to manage my jetlag, I gave in around 11 pm to finally go to sleep.
