90 Degrees

Does the world really need another opinion? We are inundated with information, and producing content, whether a blog, podcast, video, or social media, has never been easier or cheaper.

What good is yet another voice in all the noise?

I think it’s important to consider this question for my own sake in exploring and understanding my purpose in writing and for an audience’s sake (if anyone should happen upon my content) in understanding where I’m coming from.

First, and probably most importantly, I don’t think I have all the answers. My purpose in writing is not to stand at a podium and lecture. Actually, I have more questions than answers, and my goal is to chronicle the process of asking those questions, seeking the truth — the right angle, if you will — on any number of topics of interest.

Many of the answers I do have came from lessons learned the hard way, and I want to document those bruises and scars as much for my own benefit as anyone else’s.

I’ve always been a learn-on-the-fly, trial-by-fire kind of guy. I think life is a series of challenges, tests of our perseverance and character. We’re all in the midst of one of the biggest challenges of our lifetimes: a global pandemic. And in the midst of challenges, it’s easy to fall victim to fear and uncertainty, to believe that circumstances are out of our control, to lose hope.

I’m there now.

Yet, there is still so much to be thankful for, and while we are drowning in the noise of so many negative voices, we could use more that are willing to explore the many challenges of our day from an angle of hope instead of fear, free of any agenda other than the betterment of self and society.

No ads, no clickbait, no partisanship, no perfection.

An imperfect person exploring life. I think we need more of us, not fewer.
