Her passion as a businesswoman, being a mother, and empowering other women to invest in themselves and their dreams is truly an inspiration.
What’s the best piece of advice that you’ve ever received?
Business is business. Boundaries are important. Don’t get too emotionally attached to what you’re doing that you interfere with your own scalability. Money is only a tool, it will take you wherever you wish, but it will not replace you as the driver.
What inspires you with your work?
I feel inspired by the idea that every single day has uncapped potential. The limitlessness of entrepreneurship is invigorating. It gets me out of bed in the morning bright and early, as well as pushes me to work late. I am inspired by the fact that I have the time, room, and capacity to dream big.
Who was/is your mentor?
I’ve had a lot of mentors over the years. You can learn on your own and as you go but it’s so much easier to get advice from someone who has already been where you are going.
I like to be the poorest, dumbest, and least successful person in the room so that I always have room to grow. Once your growth puts you at the top of that room, then it’s time for a new one.
A consistent mentor in my life is my husband. He’s brilliant, methodical, calculated, and has a lot of diversity in his success. I always admire how he views business, problems, and potential opportunities. He’s the first person I turn to when I need advice and has been an integral part in expediting my success. I am so grateful to have him in my corner.
What lesson should everyone learn?
There is no substitute for hard work.
What scares you?
I used to say "death" but really what scares me is not truly living.
What makes you feel empowered?
One of the most empowering feelings is realizing that I always keep my promises to myself.
What’s next for you?
More money, more investments. The goal is to have something that I love doing that makes me money and then a multitude of places that I can put my money to work for me.
I am trying to be able to give my family and the loyal people around me a beautiful life. I also want to be able to giveback in a big way.
What’s a gadget from the 90s that you miss the most?
My Walkman. I just want to sit in the hallway against the lockers, listening to some emo-kid strum his guitar on the disk he burned just for me; with some obscure love note scrawled across it in blue permanent marker.
I’d stretch my legs out into the middle of the hallway where passing kids would have to step over them, while I stuffed my Walkman in the front pocket of my oversized hoodie. I’d click my Etnies together in unison with the off-beat twang of the strings and get lost in the simple poetry crafted by our naive little hearts as we tried to feel something.
