Hey everyone! Time for the first post on this blog thing.

We’re going to completely remake Guardian from scratch. Simply, it’s because the current build of Guardian, while extremely useful, isn’t able to cope with raids, or larger scale events. We’d like to add new features to Guardian constantly, like more ways to spend your Degreecoin earnings instead of racking them up on the leaderboard. So here’s the simple plan:

We want to make Guardian look the exact same on the surface, but give it a robust, flexible and strong system behind the scenes.

For the most part, Guardian works just fine — especially for basic things we use all the time like the parties system, custom commands, voice chat messages, etc. But due to the way Guardian is hosted, it can’t handle an overwhelming number of requests at once.

Jae sent me this screenshot of the 95 Degrees logs after a raid in July 2017.

So, all the commands, the Degreecoin integration, etc. will all remain the same. However, we’re going to have VoidInVoid, the extremely talented developer of the 95 Degrees Radio and 95 Degrees Trivia bots, take over development of Guardian. We might give him a new name, a new logo, a new colour, we’re not sure yet. If you have any ideas, let us know in #suggestions. But for now, keep an eye out for development updates in the Updates channel!

(Also, we’re upgrading the 95 Degrees Radio bot with plenty of new features including achievements, likes/dislikes, live lyrics, etc. More info coming soon.)

Thanks for reading! -Nath
