Born in Chiang Mai. Sakkarin Suttisarn is a lecturer in the Creative Photography Department of University of Northern Thailand. He started working in photography with documentary photography and later became fascinated in contemporary photography which might be his turning point for being a lecturer and creating art in parallel. Sakkarin always experiments his works for finding new ways of photography creatively whether digital manipulation or traditional darkroom techniques. His works are focused on various simple things in daily life such as human behaviours, religions, beliefs, and social problems. “Transformation of Object to Worshiping” — the latest photographic work concerning about Thai belief that brought him notable in Thai contemporary art field. He digitally created collages of western sculptures with Thai traditional worship objects that provoked believers to reconsider sacred things they’re worshiping. Besides depicting Thai beliefs, it can be differently interpreted a little deeper — many Thai figures who seem to be much respectable. In fact they are like cheap plasters who love doing something terrible, but we still fake and make them important for some significant benefits. He got positive and negative feedback from this work that urged him to be more interested and continue working in social issues through contemporary art until now.
