Custom Analytics Course Offering for 99P Labs Associates

Objective

The 99P labs team approached AlignAI (an analytics solutions firm) with a few goals -

1) Make it less difficult for 99P Labs Associates to access & work with strategic datasets to 99P Labs (mobility/telematics) on their own,

2) Transition associates from current process (Excel) to improved process (Python)

3) Share modern data literacy best practices to enable associates to do their own operational analytics projects in their area

Goals

The course should be centered on experiential learning design to grasp new concepts and reinforce best practices, addressing the range of attendee learning styles (visual/auditory/read/write), and building course content and exercises that enable both live and self-paced distribution of the course when appropriate.

Team Approach

1. Start by thoroughly understanding the goals of the 99P labs technical team and target personas for the course
2. Define learning outcomes, course tactics, time commitment, and resources available today. The 99P labs team had a target to make a new training asset available to 99P Labs associates in 12 weeks, AlignAI was tasked with delivering a complete course that could be facilitated by any of the technical team members in both a live format and a self-paced format to truly scale the course without capacity constraints.
3. Over 12 weeks, the project was split into three phases — Design/Build, User Test/Pilot, Deploy/Handoff.
4. The team managed work in instructional design sprints in-line with the technical team’s agile approach to project management.

Outcomes

Developed a new 8-hour course for all 99P Labs associates focused on data enablement, intended to be a next step in an associate’s learning after completing an Intro to Python course. The course content offers a blend of internal 99P Labs methods, AlignAI best practices, and research happening in University/industry today to create a modern, well-rounded learning experience for associates.

• Telematics (Mobility) data knowledge
• Ability to access and use mobility data in a self-service format
• Understanding of common definitions/data dictionary terms when provided to them
• Python data manipulation skills
• Basic exploratory data analysis skills
• Business problem framing to drive exploration for mobility dataset analysis
