2022 getting ready for open alpha

For new community members please see our January update to find out what is currently in development. https://medium.com/9lives-arena/9lives-arena-development-update-1ba4838af64a

2021 was all about creating a scalable and reliable backend that can handle a huge amount of players. We teamed up with CENGN, CENGN is Canada’s Centre of Excellence in Next Generation Networks. You can find out all the details here: https://www.cengn.ca/project/case-studies/touchhour/

2022 so far has all been about bug fixing the new code and the integration of the Fortnite online multiplayer network code. While our own code worked fine during closed alpha and allowed for very competitive matches it is nowhere near as good as Fortnite's code when it comes to being secure and allowing us to fight off hacks and or prevent them from the get go… We started development before Epic made the code publicly available with the Unreal Engine and we decided early this year that now is a good time to set us up as solid as can be for the future.

Ooogy hates bugs…

The impact of that decision is that open alpha is seeing some delays, which nobody ever likes but that is a small price to pay considering we now have a triple A online multiplayer network code moving forward as foundation for our combat throughout our competitive Arena system.

In terms of flashy new content — this is not the most exciting update, however this is very good news nevertheless.

Our Token raise is ongoing and we have not locked in a TGE date yet as we strategically planning to combine it all with our open alpha roadmap. Right now, we are in a bear market and naturally things have slowed down with retail interest at its lowest so there is no rush for us to get the token out. We will give a separate update on this when the time comes.

The content team is busy working on a few unannounced things as well as preparing NFT drops for the open alpha. As you all know right now there will be a big wipe coming and leveling blockchain Ooogies is the only confirmed persistent progression from closed Alpha into open Alpha.

Open Alpha will see more and more persistent progression and will be the base layer of the final game. We plan for NFT drops from fishing, treasure hunting and arena fights already during open alpha.

So hang in there everyone and enjoy your summer wherever you are or winter if you are in Australia :) Things are moving closer and closer to the open alpha on a daily basis and we will be inviting the first players to internal testing next week.

The next development updates will be about the open alpha roadmap details, the token and the whitepaper introduction. We are extremely busy preparing for all this and are forging partnerships behind the curtain that we are extremely eager to share when the time is right!

We have partnered with the Chain Guardians in a 10K NFT Gleam Giveaway where you can win Ooogies and the Idosan from the Chain Guardians.
