Indian economic achievements are not really letting the majority of the people rise above the poverty line. India is going global. It is collaborating with different foreign firms and setting up multinational companies in different parts of the countries. There are certainly some improvements seen in the people with now less than below 21 percent of poverty line, child mortality has lowered and women delivering in the health centers and less than two million children are in drop out lists. But it is not doing enough for the majority of the Indian population. Literacy rate is low and still much behind the other developed countries and moreover the same gender bias issues are existing in the middle class, lower middle class , poor and disadvantaged section of the society. There has not been enough improvement done for poor children in India. They have been consistently neglected by their parents due to financial constraints, government of India and any advantaged organization or community.

What are the major issues behind the rise in poor children in India?

We need to actually study the core issues which are causing poor children in India.

1) Malnutrition: Nearly 38.4% of the children are suffering from the malnutritition and not receiving vaccinations on time.As a result, many of these poor children in India are suffering from chronic disorders and disabilities.

2)Less number of females over males: In the ratio of 1000 males, there are 900 females. Compared to India, there is a high percentage of male mortality rate with age below 5 in other parts of the world. But in India, the female mortality rate is higher for girls above 11 years. There are some other challenges that mostly adolescent females face and these are child marriage and early pregnancy.

3)Lack of health facilities: There are a lack of health centers in the slum areas and villages. Sometimes, doctors and nurses are not available in the emergency to attend to the issues of the children.

4)Low attendance in the school : There are more dropouts in the schools because many poor children in India give up their studies and start doing odd jobs in factories or work in domestic areas as help. Some of the poor children do not even go to schools from the very beginning. There are factors that are leading to an increase in dropout rates and these are inadequate teachers, lack of administration and lack of health facilities in the school.

Summary: Even though India is going global and gaining rapid economic development. Still the problems relating to poor children are still existing. They are not able to achieve major facilities in their lives and these are proper diet, low male, female ratio, lack of healthcare and poor attendance.
