The first semester for being a collegian had made plenty of memorable experiences throughout my life. Not only the occasions I had ever done but also the impressions of new things I had just encountered back in the day have been leaving special marks upon the list of what thing can get me engaged into the deep thought of mine. One day, most students who took Philosophy class should go to Cultural Village Pampang and I was included in the group at that time.

Cultural Village Pampang is a place which serves many of cultural-based things related to one of the ethnic groups in East Borneo, which is Dayak Tribe. Cultural Village Pampang is 23 kilometers away in distance by the capital city of East Borneo, Samarinda City. It is placed in Pampang Village, before the APT Pranoto International Airport, in the left side of the road which connects Samarinda to Bontang city.

In regards, the things Cultural Village Pampang provides are art performances, souvenirs, and pictorial sessions with the natives of Dayak Tribe. For the art performance, dancing comes as the prominence out of all things this place offers. Either the stories of Traditional of Dayak itself such as Kanjet Anyam Tali, Hudoq, Nyalama Sakai and many more or broader concept which rotates on how we should act and how Indonesian is famous with its Bhineka Tunggal Ika are what dancing performances this place shows to visitors. These traditional dancing performances are just being held every Sunday on 2 until 3 pm local time and it costs fifty thousand rupiah per head for every visit. What definitely has become refreshing is, the dance performance is performed by the native of Dayak Tribe with no range of age that requires performers to, by then, the very little one to the elders can be seen performing on the stage with the original concepts of theirs. Additionally, what can also probably surprise the visitors or tourists outside Borneo is the natives of Dayak Tribe who have long ear lobes, wherein their unique and big metal ‘Belaong’ earrings are hanging on.

After that, what surrounds Cultural Village Pampang which events are centered on the Lamin Adat Pamung Tawai House, that is basically a traditional house of East Borneo, is carved object that symbolizes the Dayak Tribe motif which has black, white and yellow as to imply characteristic of Dayak. As Cultural Village Pampang is located in Pampang Village, it automatically is surrounded by the residence of local citizen of the village. Other than that, trees are what we can see as the peripheral vision of this place.

Last but not least, it is worth less money I spent and the time I took to finally get on there as there are many to see. I think this place is a promising destination to offer as an important asset of the region of East Borneo as it can evoke the feelings of the tourists whose curiosity of East Borneo are high, because it serves traditional and original glimpses of what Dayak Tribe, one of ethnic groups in East Borneo, would look like.
