Inhaling Dirt

exhaustion so palpable

i feel as if i am

inhaling dirt

i’ve wandered, lost,

needing you and

your strength,

but both are

steadfastly hidden

the weight of the

resounding emptiness

in my chest is a stone

filled with only

my own anxieties

in my eye,

the look of an

animal trapped out

in a violent storm

brain numb,

breathing shallow,

i bury my face

in my feather pillow

wishing for suffocation

and getting

only

sleep
