Our world is always changing. The Earth’s climate is changing, too. It is getting warmer as we continue to add heat-trapping gases to the atmosphere, those greenhouse gases.

It is because of climate change that warmer temperatures are causing other changes around the world, such as melting glaciers and stronger storms. What’s alarming is that, people are causing these changes and these changes are bigger and happening faster that all we could think of is how to adapt to the changing conditions in our daily lives. Here are some little ways:

Let’s travel in an eco-friendly way!

Cars, trucks, airplanes, and other kinds of vehicles are responsible for about one–third of the greenhouse gas emissions in the United States. Smart choices for transportation can make a big impact on reducing emissions. Try to walk, bike, skateboard, roller-blade, or take a bus to school or to encourage your family to make one big trip to run all their errands at once, instead of making lots of small trips. Or consider sharing rides with others, carpooling is one of the trends right now.

Let’s switch to clean energy

When we get electricity from renewable energy sources like wind and solar power, we avoid the carbon dioxide emissions that would have come from burning fossil fuels like coal, oil, or natural gas.

However, because of the heat in some areas, more people are inclined to using aircondition units to lessen the heat. What we can do, if we can’t totally abandon the idea of using these cooling devices is to make sure that they are properly working. Schedule aircon repair every time. You may want to consider aircon repair service, for countries like Singapore which experiences hot climate, there are a lot of reliable aircon servicing in Singapore that are being online.

Let’s use less energy!

Most of the energy you use at home and at school comes from burning fossil fuels. Using less energy means burning fewer fossil fuels and putting less carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. Power down and unplug your appliances and gadgets when not in use or use energy–efficient appliances and electronics typically use between 10 and 50 percent less energy than regular models.

Let’s take care of our waste!

The classic reduce, reuse, and recycle can help slow down the effects of climate change. Try buying things that have less packaging to reduce waste, borrow or rent things you’ll only need for a short amount of time, and reuse them and remember to recycle whatever materials you can.

Let’s save Water!

Saving water saves energy, which in turn reduces greenhouse gas emissions. Turn the water off when not needed and make sure to fix faucet leaks. Wash only full loads of laundry or maybe, talk with your family about installing water–efficient appliances and plumbing fixtures.

The little things sometimes help big leaps. Let us learn to take care of our environment in our own little ways. After all, we will be the one on the receiving end of the damages that we create. We should start now.
