If you told me 5 1/2 years ago that in the summer 2017 the Bulls would have 26 million dollars in cap room, and derrick rose would be an unrestricted free agent who is only commanding a minimum salary, but nobody wants him, I would never have believed you. Still only 28, I still love him and hope he can be a solid 20 ppg player, and he was close to that last season, but again, he ended the year injured with a torn meniscus. Back in 2011, Drose had already established himself as my all-time favorite Bull, and I fully appreciate MJ. Before his injuries Drose was on pace to have an all-time great career, which makes this all the more tragic. He’s a Chicago kid who won back-to-back state championships in high school, was a mario chalmers buzzer 3 way from an NCAA championship, #1 overall pick, rookie of the year, all-star, youngest ever MVP, and then just a ton of false hope and rehab. Every time he went down it felt like a bad joke, I understand why the Bulls wouldn’t want him back, its just sad.
