The Dealer, they called him, a man that would offer weapons and armor to all manner of folk…for the right price.

Sneak peek of 0N1 Gear

0N1 Force is launching its first community driven project, 0N1 Gear. 0N1 Gear is the official “Loot” of the 0N1Verse—randomized, adventurer gear generated and stored on-chain. 0N1 Gear, like other Loot systems, allows 0N1 holders to have their very own set of items and titles, with the interpretation of the Loot being left up to the owner.

Presented to the 0N1 Force team by a handful of community members, 0N1 Gear is the first official community generated project within the Ethereal Enclave. Although this is a community led project, the 0N1 Force team has assured the quality of both the product and the story canon.

Below is everything you need to know about the launch of #0N1Gear.

Who is the community team behind 0N1 Gear?

@olithevet — Originally inspired by a suggestion on the Discord, then “goaded” into action by Strawberry, Oli started the project and wrote the Smart Contract. Oli is a full stack developer and this project was his first introduction to Solidity.
@LifeAtMars — The first person to really get stuck in creating the Lore items that would make up the 0N1 Gear, Life at Mars is a dev ops engineer who is very active in the 0N1 Force RPG.
@cur8or — A Game industry veteran with project management experience, Cur8or has coordinated, documented and had significant input into the game mechanics, as well as the future roadmap of 0N1 Gear.
@Fortune Yellers — An artist who has provided the backdrops for the minting site, as well as the closeup 8 bit versions of “The Dealer” 0BER1N.
@infiltrate — A UI/UX engineer who created the design for the minting site and helped create the user journeys for the minting experience.
@st4rdust0x — A web3 front-end developer, who implemented many designs, worked with the Smart Contract, and leveraged expertise from their other project The Pointless Pigeons of Shill City.
@Franky — A community member who has been very active in the Tech-Collabs discord thread giving direction and handling feedback. Franky also coordinated testing of the front-end of the minting experience.

How does this add value to 0N1 Force Holders?

0N1 Gear adds more depth to the RPG (role-playing game), and many of the items contain lore. Item lore has been checked by the official team to ensure it is canon, as are the characters and locations involved. There will be a delightful minting experience set in the 0N1Verse. This will help increase public perception of the product and be a fun experience for anyone minting.

0N1 Gear also lays the groundwork for potential gamification utility that the community could build upon. The 0N1 Gear itself provides a lower entry point for people who want to come into the RPG/Discord.

Someone may even be lucky enough to mint great Gear and trade their way to owning an 0N1. 0N1 Gear is the framework for the start of the 0N1 community building together.

Cost

Starting Saturday, October 9th, 0N1 Gear will enter a 4 day 0N1 holder’s sale. During these 4 days (Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday) anyone who holds at least 1 0N1 will be able to mint 0N1 Gear for 0.025 ETH.

After the holder’s sale has ended, 0N1 Gear will enter public sale and anyone can buy the remaining gear for 0.05 ETH.

Why isn’t this free for holders? Can’t you just get revenue from royalties?

The numbers for royalties alone are really hard to make work for a long term initiative. Plenty of small projects don’t generate much more than tens of ETH a week in secondary sales, meaning revenue would be significantly lower from their royalties.

For context, minting all Loot at a lower price to existing owners will generate 7777 x 0.025 ETH= 194.5 ETH. Half of that going into the community wallet gives nearly 100 ETH which will be invested right back into the roadmap. With royalties, say at 100 ETH in secondary sales per week, it would take nearly a year to generate the same treasury.

Where does the ETH go?

50% of all revenue generated goes into a Gnosis Safe multisig wallet which will be used to invest in the roadmap. 20% goes back to the 0N1 Force team, and the remaining 30% to the creators of 0N1 Gear. The Gnosis Safe address is: 0x6EA78286e07d535EE6357045Ad9D265eBC89fC72.

Roadmap — Highly Provisional Production Goals

25% sold — Create the foundation for an 0N1 RPG ecosystem.
50% sold — Guaranteed 5 ETH investment in separate community project(s), using a grant process.
75% sold — Expand the minting site to be an interactive 8 bit “The Vents,” where characters can walk around the environment and interact with 0N1s, and create visual versions of the 0N1 Gear.
100% sold — Expand “The Vents” environment into a full 8 bit RPG, as much as the budget allows.

Beyond the Roadmap

The 0N1 Gear creators will consider community input regarding the use of any additional funds in the treasury. Examples include:

  • Involvement in the 0N1 DAO (community driven project)
  • 0N1 Gear Merch
  • Running 0N1 giveaways & prizes to encourage community involvement
  • Exploring a liquidity/swap pool for floor 0N1s
  • and more…

Additional Help/Thanks

Special mentions go out to: @wuwei for helping with the character concepts and early mint-site artwork (including an 8 bit version of 0BER1N), as well as @Writer, @leesah, and @jakezam for helping with the lore.

The Marketing and PR Collabs channels in the 0N1 Force Discord helped to spread the word about 0N1 Gear, with fantastic trailers developed by @Goodvybes. Sound effects were assisted by @samhayek and @syntro provided the Gaussian distribution functions for the random generation.

Many others gave feedback and contributed, there are too many to name individually, but the creators are very grateful for everyone’s input.
