Introduction
Defira is a blockchain metaverse — the Defiraverse. It is a fusion of DeFi and GameFi, harnessing the synergies of both models to create a DeFi “super app” inside a fantasy game world, which hosts novel and engaging gameplay experiences that fully take advantage of the unique strengths of the blockchain medium. It is aimed to cultivate the Defiraverse as a multimedia franchise and valuable piece of intellectual property, which is owned and driven by a decentralized community and fandom. [1]

Discussion: Article Proper
To start this article, I’m going to spoonfeed you all the articles and docs that are needed to be read, and I’m going to explain it as well as much as I can and as much as I understand it.
Layers
Okay, so let’s dissect Defiraverse and its layers. It has 3 layers; DeFi Layer, GameFi Layer, and Intellectual Property Layer (or IP layer).
Everything you know is in the docs, docs.defira.com, but I’m going to explain why these layers are important.
DeFi layer
This is the most important aspect of why Defira was built, the DeFi layers of Defiraverse as we know is Tranquil Finance and Mimas Finance. It was built initially as the first money market in Harmony Protocol chain and Cronos chain and as a somewhat fork of Compound but in my opinion, a much better version. Check out Defira’s vision in terms of DeFi and read Tranquil Finance’s docs and Mimas Finance’s docs.
Summarizing the vision of the DeFi Layer; it is composed of the long term vision of building a cross-chain super application such as Tranquil-Defira. Each supported blockchain in the future will support the same structure like what we have in, again, Tranquil-Defira. Each protocol and blockchain will have its own governance token (e.g. TRANQ, MIMAS) and unique capital city inside the Defira game world. DeFi primitives are represented as areas in the capital (e.g. market, bank, etc.), and all DeFi protocol tokens will have utility in-game, being a resource required for critical features, such as wishing for new heroes. The platform is also accessible through a traditional web app frontend, making them full-fledged standalone DeFi applications for non-gamers purely interested in DeFi functionality. They envision that eventually all major DeFi primitives will have a presence in the Defira super app. As the first initial step, it will begin by integrating Tranquil Finance, their existing DeFi protocol on the Harmony blockchain, into the Defira metaverse. It will be a testbed for experimenting and developing their ideas for Defira before expanding cross-chain. [1][2]
This is important since we want to not just play a game but also do Decentralized Financing, that’s why every chain has its own Money Market app. I think this will play out in every chain they’re going to play in expanding, an example is in Cronos which is Mimas Finance and soon for the Defiraverse of it, it’s going to be called Cronia. Check out this article explaining it.
GameFi layer
The GameFi layer points to Defiraverse itself, as we know and at this moment of writing, we are waiting for the Generation 0 Hero minting release. My references are from the latest announcement in how the gameplay would be expected to play out; we’ll be expecting a ‘4x’ gameplay and a great heronomics combined with the tokenomics of the DeFi layer. Check out their game vision section and explanation. Not going to expound on this as the article section is very self-explanatory in terms of their plans.
As for the usable NFTs, we had the privilege and opportunity to actually look at the planned heroes and its future setup.
A very cool useable NFT will soon look like these. Heroes are primeval spirits residing on the mystical plane that underpins the world of Defira. They are not only great warriors and masters of magic, but they also perform the vital jobs that make the world prosperous. They are summoned in a magical Wishing Ritual by combining the souls of two other heroes. [3]
Heroes will be playable inside a variety of game modes and interact with the various DeFi features in the Defiraverse. Hero genes, stats and abilities are left generic, so they can be composed and used in different game modes. Each game can interpret the stats and progression of the hero in their own way, to fit requirements and gameplay balance. [3]
As the article explains, there will be a hard cap of 10,000 Genesis Heroes across all chains. There will be a limit of 2000 Genesis Heroes available in the land of Harmonia (Harmony blockchain), which will be distributed through the initial locked TRANQ staking lottery and Genesis Mint event. [3]
A hero’s class, race, and gender will have gameplay and mechanical differences, so each hero will have their own strengths and weaknesses, promoting diversity and an incentive to own multiple heroes.
At launch, Defira heroes will have the following classes: Knight, Warrior, Ranger, Rogue, Mage, Priest
These heroes will also belong to the following fantasy races: Human (Male and Female), Elf (Male and Female), Inu, Zaru
[3]
As far as gameplay mechanics is concerned, I’m not going to discuss everything here but please do read the Introduction to Defiraverse’s Heroes.
Intellectual Property Layer
Okay this is something new for me and this is just a genius idea. Imagine you’re actually a fan of these big manga from Defira, and having yourself NFT from Defira. It will give different ways how the NFT will be demanded by the people and future investors. Just imagine an NFT based from Naruto and you actually have 1/1 Naruto NFT from Pierrot Co., Ltd. and Masashi Kishimoto et al. (the company and creators of Naruto), I mean come on.
That’s how I view it in an another perspective but there’s more genius idea behind it, which is the implemented Fanbase Mining; aside from DeFi LP mining/farming, Defiraverse’s idea of different mining strategies gives the fan a lot of engagement and interaction, they want to expand this idea and use token rewards to attract a fanbase for the Defira IP and they call this Fanbase Mining. Genius right?
For more information, please read the sub-article of Fanbase Mining in the docs: [7]
Personal Opinion
In my opinion, I think the tokenomics and heronomics are exemplary and ingenious. I’m very vocal in Twitter, explaining every take and ideas I can get from what I think and how I think Defira would grow currently in today’s market and in the future.
Again, let’s discuss about how important the unlocking tokenomics of Defiraverse is…
Here’s the thing about these unlocking methods, in my opinion. The traditional schedule-dependent unlocking (e.g. locked JEWEL) tends to create a massive snowball effect of withdrawing once unlocking starts because people KNOW the schedule of unlocking dates (e.g. DFK July 2022–2023). We can’t control investors emotions, it’s the single important factor how the market runs, crypto and non-crypto market. Thus I think the schedule-dependent unlocking has its very weakness, which is FUD and investors’ need to TP out.
In Defiraverse, it has an user-dependent fixed unlocking, the user-dependent fixed unlocking (365 days) creates a healthy and positive blinding procedure in which investors don’t know whom would unseal and unlock it in a given specific point of time, thus making it more resistant to negative snowball effect. Blinding is used in a lot of research, observational and experimental researches, it is used to prevent biases and factors that would affect the research and where the respondent can affect it. A good article about blinding is linked here: [5]. Blinding creates positive impact where it minimizes emotions, FUD, biases, and minimizes the risk of affecting both the project and the token price.
In terms of Heronomics, one of the most important aspect that they focused on was fairness. I’m not going to explain it all as the article of Introduction to Defiraverse’s Heroes gave all the information about it.
Okay this is something old but still haven’t done by many (as far as I know), a good example of Fat Protocol Thesis in Harmony Protocol is DeFi Kingdom. At some point in time (November-December), the TVL of DFK comprised half of what Harmony Protocol was, that time. It gave a big boost for the chain and actually put Harmony Protocol in the map and as one of the renown top L1s with fast 2s finality and close to non-existent gas fees.
The Fat Protocol Thesis, in summary, is like explaining how the internet began. The internet began with the World Wide Web (WWW), making it Web0 (networks, wires). Time passed on where a lot of website has formed, a single example is Google; and we can say it is a product from the WWW, and also formally defined under Web1 (read-only web). WWW initially was big and created a big question mark for the world, and in one point, a lot of people doubted it. It boomed after years 2000s and then some years later Web2 (read-write interactive; social web) and soon in this age Web3 (ownership-read-write interactive; decentralized web). For further explanation of Web 1–2–3, refer to this link: [6]
Okay, I got a bit far. So what the Fat Protocol actually explaining is; Google took over the WWW. That’s how one of the Frontend Devs of Defira was explaining back then, that Defira-Tranquil can do so much more than the chain it is sitting on, and somewhat like DFK has done recently.
If you want to know more about the Fat Protocol thesis, here’s the link:[4]
Conclusion
To be frankly honest, Defira-Tranquil is still far off the expectation of the people but we know how talented its developers are and how they proven how silent work is all about. I do believe in this project and I think it will gain traction soon. For some maxis, who actually are mad of me, I was also an early investor in DFK, I still got some locked JEWELs, LPs, and staked JEWELs. I didn’t lose the admiration for DFK, but as an investor and having that kind of mindset, we want to diversify and look for more appealing projects, and this is freaking one of it.
Thank you for reading!
