Coffee with students and recent grads
Since launching Ten Thousand Coffees in 2014, it’s been our goal to provide everyone with access to networking. As part of this vision, we are providing our platform to schools to help students and alumni build important career networks. These networks unlock work experiences, build new perspectives, and create innovative ideas.
RBC Future Launch announced today the first phase of a game-changing partnership to provide the Ten Thousand Coffees platform, programming, and best practices to Canadian post-secondary institutions; free of charge. Nine selected schools will leverage our tried and tested platform to connect their alumni with students and recent grads for career conversations. This scalable solution will help the next generation unlock opportunity through networking.
This is an exciting beginning and a leap forward for the next generation of professional networking.
Everyone has been told, “Your network is your net-worth”, but research shows that less than 5% of youth have the skills or the network that they need to succeed in the rapidly changing employment landscape. We’ll be rolling this out through schools in addition to our existing enterprise partners to achieve our goal of democratizing access to networking.
In Phase 1, nine schools will join our over 200 other academic and enterprise organizations already using Ten Thousand Coffees’ private communities in ten countries.
Congratulations to our Phase 1 partners:
- George Brown College — Centre for Business
- McGill University — Desautels Faculty of Management
- Saint Mary’s University — All Faculties
- University of Calgary — Schulich School of Engineering
- University of Guelph — College of Business and Economics
- University of Lethbridge — All Faculties
- University of Victoria — Gustavson School of Business;
- University of Victoria — Faculty of Social Sciences;
- University of Victoria — Faculty of Engineering
These schools are providing their alumni and students with the opportunity to join their private communities on Ten Thousand Coffees. Alumni and students will get smart matches to meet for a “coffee” based on career goals, skills and interests. Whether it’s career advice, job shadowing, or a mentoring chat — participants can get matched based on what interests them most.
If you are interested in having your school or alumni network participate — email Katie O’Connor, katie@tenthousandcoffees.com
