Life’s little balancing acts: fitness and family
What one mom hopes to teach her children through fitness

Sometimes I wake up before them so I can get my workout in.
When the day starts, it doesn’t belong to me anymore. It belongs to them- my two little boys.
Sometimes they are there to witness me sweating and breathing hard. They have seen me PR a lift and they have seen me fail.
They have seen me accomplish many of my dreams and they have seen me fall short.
I try to be the best person I can be for them. I try to balance it all.
But most of the time, it seems, I am standing on one foot with both arms full.
There is always guilt and figuring out where the line is between family and training. I constantly have to adjust priorities. But I hope I inspire them to dream big.

I hope they see from me that sometimes hard work takes sacrifice and dedication. I hope they see my joy in doing something that I love.
I pray that they see strength when they look at me; even at my weakest moments. I hope I am showing my boys how tough a girl can be.
I hope they see how beautiful she can be when she is in her element…even if that that means covered in sweat, chalk, or mud.
I pray that they see my passion for something and that they too will find a passion that drives them- whatever their passion may be.
CrossFit has allowed me so many moments of growth as a person, athlete, and now a mom. It has created so many stories to share with my boys and it has provided lessons without words for them to learn and grow from. For that, I will forever be grateful.
