There are two issues I see with bitcoin’s future, and I see both these issues as very problematic for bitcoin moving forward. The first issue will be the impending US government ban of cryptocurrency usage by American citizens. The US DOJ shut down the Neteller cash transfer service in the US several years ago and several of the Neteller founders were arrested because Neteller cash transfers were going to online gambling sites. Many bitcoin transfers are also currently winding up in online gambling sites. The DOJ could easily forbid US banks from processing any kind of bitcoin transactions — which is exactly what happened with Neteller. The second issue is ‘bitcoin kidnapping’. The famous ‘Crypto Kid’ is a young man who holds vast wealth — and all of this wealth is in bitcoins. The Crypto Kid now lives in hiding because he fears robbery and/or kidnappping. A bitcoin armed robbery could net millions in ill-gotten and untraceable gains in a 30 minute armed robbery. All a robber need do is put a gun to the head of a bitcoin millionaire and force him to get out his iphone and transfer all his bitcoins to a foreign wallet. All a robber need do to pull off this type of very lucrative crime is just figure out who holds vast wealth in bitcoin — then just rob them of all their bitcoins. A robber could become a multimillionaire in just a 30 minute robbery. I would welcome any push back on these two issues. I am a bitcoin fan and I hold some bitcoin, but I see the two above issues as big dark clouds hanging over the future of bitcoin.
