- Notepad++
Notepad++ is an incremental version of Notepad. But it is quite different than it. It has a different UI and UX feels than Notepad. It supports more programming languages, obviously. The less usage of CPU and other hardware resources makes it portable and powerful.

When using less CPU power, the PC can throttle down and reduce power consumption, resulting in a greener environment.
2. Atom
Atom is a cross-platform code editor created by developers for developers. It is open source, and much like WordPress, Atom users can submit packages and themes for the software. It looks pretty and you can change the appearance by installing themes. It comes with built-in package manager to extend it, smart autocompletion, file system browser, multiple panes, find and replace.
3. Microsoft Visual Studio
Well, this is the heavy version of Visual Studio. It can be used for compiling simple programs of C++ to building super heavy cloud-based applications for Azure. It can also be used to develop UWP apps for Windows 10 PC, Windows 10 Mobile, HoloLens, Mixed Reality, and every other Microsoft platform. This can also be used to develop UWP, Android, and iOS apps using Xamarin.
Support for extensions and its availability on MacOS machines makes it even more powerful. Although you need a Mac to emulate an iOS app developed in Xamarin with Xamarin Live Player, you can emulate it wirelessly to your iOS device like your iPhone and iPad too.

Sublime Text is a cross-platform code editor for Mac, Windows, and Linux. It comes with all the features you would expect from a powerful code editor and then some more. It looks beautiful and you can tweak the appearance to make it more comfortable for you. Sublime Text comes with advanced code editor features which allow you to autofill, autocomplete, reference function in a file, multiple selection, split editing, and many more.

Coffee Cup HTML Editor is an easy to use HTML editor for Windows. It supports PHP, HTML, Markdown, CSS and allows you to use autocomplete, syntax validation, semantic code, among many other features. Coffee Cup HTML editor is not the ideal code editor for many other languages but if you want to learn writing PHP, HTML, and CSS, then Coffee Cup HTML editor is a good place to start.
