I Never Wanted To End My Life…I Just Wanted To End My Sufferings
You must have heard people saying “Life is beautiful!”, “Life is God’s gift that should be cherished.”, “When in trouble, just look around and see there are people who always wish to have a life like your’s.”, and many such things. But have you ever tried keeping yourself in the sufferer’s shoes?
I’m tired of hearing that people who choose to end their life are selfish. People don’t end their life because they are weak and selfish, it’s just that they have been strong for too long.
Depression is real, and a lot of people have become victims to it. You, me, and everyone in this world want to live happily than ever thought about the fact why some people choose to remain silent all the time or prefer isolation over socializing? Let me take you through the feelings of a depressed person.
- They are dying inside, but still some of them choose to hide their unbearable pain behind their fake smile.
- They don’t socialize because they develop a feeling of inferiority.
- Even the smallest of things can hurt them really badly.
- Suicidal thoughts are constantly on their mind. You cannot even imagine how a person continues to live when he/she is continuously dying inside, and that too daily!
- Their productivity at work starts to decrease at a significant rate.
- They start living with a notion that there is no end to their sufferings.
- They constantly keep avoiding conversations, when in reality they want someone to listen to them.
These are just some of the feelings that they fight with regularly.
There comes a time when the level of bearing pain and continuing with the life’s struggles break all the barriers. It is then when a person decides to take that extreme step.
Depressed people are not the weakest person on earth, rather they are the strongest creatures who have been fighting their way out through extreme conditions.
No one wants to live with pain. When a person chooses to end his/her life, he/she is actually choosing to end the sufferings.
Whenever you feel someone is depressed, please lend him/her your emotional support. There are people who even mock the depressed people for not being mentally healthy or being a spoilt sport or whatever. Your kind gesture can lighten up their day, and they may start feeling that they too are valued.
Don’t let people die internally when in reality they wish to get saved.
Every small action counts, so make sure you do your bit. Be kind to the depressed people. In fact, be kind to every person.
