EDCON Toronto featured a demo event that gave talented startups and teams a chance to present what they were working on. There were more than 30 teams signed up for the Superdemo competition, but after strict evaluation and selection, only 10 teams got a chance to present at the end.

With the topic “Building the Future of Giving”, Giveth won the first prize out of the 10 candidates on May 3, 2018 — the last day of EDCON Toronto. It was an inspiring and encouraging moment for them — to get the nod of developers, investors, founders and researchers.

More than seven months have passed, many of those who attended EDCON Toronto are wondering how the top 1 project is doing now. Are they still growing and heading towards their ultimate goal? Or are they fading away in this so called “crypto winter”?

EDCON team did a small research on Giveth, trying to “dig out” what and how they are doing at present. Check it out!

Brief Intro

Giveth is a community focused on making the world a better place through the use of blockchain technology. Its flagship product is a dApp called Giveth Donation Application, which is re-engineering charitable giving, by creating an entirely free, open-source platform, built on the Ethereum Blockchain. Giveth system cuts out bureaucracy and enables nonprofits to create a high level of transparency and accountability towards Givers.

They call their community Giveth Decentralized Altruistic Community (Giveth DAC) that is comprised of four Circles, four dedicated teams working respectively on social coding, governance and communication initiatives, and the development of the DApp itself.

Current Status

According to Givethwiki, the dApp is now live in Beta stage on the Ethereum mainnet, bridged to Rinkeby Testnet, getting ready to onboard some of the initial Campaigns.

Apart from the dApp itself, Giveth also remains active on social media platforms. At the time of writing, their Twitter, Medium and Reddit were updated synchronously two days ago — a tutorial on Send Your Friends Unique CryptoXmas Cards. The latest Youtube video was uploaded three days ago.

It can be told that Giveth has a roughly weekly-posts (mainly on Medium) to keep the public and their followers informed of their advances and progresses.

Summary

To sum up, Giveth team has developed from a callow project into a mature and ever-growing community. We have a reason to believe that they are doing well in heading towards their vision — a truly decentralize future!
