MLB Opening Day 2017

With spring upon us so much has already happened, making millions of fans excited for the 2017–2018 season. With the Chicago Cubs winning their first World Series since 1908, many are already predicting another crazy season.

Baseball has always been a passion of mine, though I stopped playing after 8th grade (High School baseball is dreadful). I'm a big Cubs fan and try to go to as many games, but it will be a little hard this year with ticket prices increasing.

The Giants faced off against the Diamondbacks on opening day, and it was an odd game. The Diamondbacks won the game 5–6 after scoring 2 runs in the bottom of the 9th. The Giants starting pitcher, Madison Bumgarner, made history becoming the first pitcher to hit 2 homeruns on opening day.

How crazy that a pitcher was leading the whole MLB in home runs for a day.

Meanwhile, the Cubs had a thrilling opening day game vs division rivals, the Cardinals. After being held scoreless till the 9th Wilson Contreras launched a game tying 3 run homerun.

Though the Cubs lost the game in the bottom of the 9th they still fought till the end. I hope the Cubs can rebound and take the next two games.
