nce Oscar graduated he moved back home and started subbing when teachers got sick. Soon the substituting turned into a full time job. Of course Oscar had never wanted to teach but he went with the flow and told himself it didn’t matter. The students liked Oscar teaching as much as he liked to teach. They laughed and pointed at him, endlessly tormenting their lonely teacher. When Oscar tried to to start s science fiction and fantasy club for the other nerds it only made things worse. Oscar felt himself falling into the routine of an “old bitter dork”. Oscar became depressed finding hard most mornings to even get out of bed. Oscar stopped writing and told his mother off and refused to even get up. As always Oscar would shake himself out of it and feel an overwhelming guilt for how he’s acted. Than of course Oscar would have to visit Lola and yunior who were together this time. After spending three years in don Bosco, Beli decided it was time to go back to santo Domingo and visit her mother. Oscar beginning to regain his happy started walking again and lost close to 20 pounds, he even attempted talking to a girl on the bus. Oscar than decided to come with his mother on her trip, he wanted to try something new. On arrival Oscar decided that he would stay there with his mother all summer instead of returning home with Lola. Oscar had fallen in love (again) with Ybón, a prostitute. She lived two houses over and it made his day when they by chance saw each. Other around town. The third time he saw her he has been reading in a local coffee shop when she sat at his table and asked what he’d been reading. This was much more than a surprise to Oscar. They seemed to keep running into each other, each time exchanging polite small talk until one day she invited him in. They talked and talked and talked and Oscar fell in love. They spent so much time together the two of them, talking and going out. Ybón telling Oscar all her secrets and about her life. Did they ever do as much as kiss? Of course not. It was obvious she liked him, he was her only real friend. Ybón started mentioning her boyfriend more and more, telling Oscar how he was a jealous man, hoping he gets the hint.oscar didn’t care, he was in love. Once Oscar was driving a drunk and passing out Ybón home and thy got pulled over but the police. Just as the officer walked up Ybón kissed Oscar, it was his first kiss, it was magical and breathtaking. Until Ybón passed out and the officer ended up being her boyfriend. He called on his goons and they took Oscar away, led him to a place all too familiar to his mother, a cane field. Oscar like his mother once was, was beaten to a pulp and left to die, Oscar lied in the field in despair, hopeless. Lucky for Oscar, a taxi driver followed Oscar to the cane field, worried for his safety and found him and helped him in the back of the car and drove him to the hospital. Oscar made a slow but steady recovery and once he had recovered he made plans. He went back to santo Domingo. He tried to talk to Ybón but she wouldn’t listen, refused to see him, afraid of both of the being killed. He wrote her letters every day and smiled at her whenever she walked out of her house. Than of course it happened, two goons showed up and took him away. Lola got married but not to yunior, tho they visited often. Yunior placed his hope in her child, and told her all about her uncle Oscar, someone she would never meet.
