365 Days of Python: Day #12 — Collaborative Community
Programming is typically described as a solitary profession; however, in my short-lived experience as a programmer (if you want to call me that), I have noticed something peculiar.
Programming is not only a profession but also a community.
Oftentimes, I have found myself stuck when writing code. With the help of online forums, though, those moments of frustration are quickly abated.
Furthermore, the level of encouragement and supportiveness that I see on a daily basis between programmers is unlike any other profession.
Day #12 (11/26/2022)
“Non nobis solum nati sumus.”
— Cicero
Accomplishments
- Wrote the data analysis code for my PotW
Weekly Goals
- Learn the basics of PyGame (20%)
- Write a program that simulates a coin flip and performs data analysis on its simulated flips (70%)
Closing Thoughts
I have never been a fan of homework; however, I am going to assign some to you.
If you see a blog written by a fellow programmer, comment something supportive under it.
If you read a program written by a beginner programmer, try to restrain yourself from calling out how poorly formatted it is. Feel free to offer constructive criticism, though.
Remember that communities are made up of people. If those people are not willing to offer a helping hand or words of encouragement to other members, then the community itself is never going to succeed.
