365 Days of Python: Day #141 — Whining Wind

Although the wind is usually always present, we hardly ever notice it because it is both quiet and invisible. But when it starts to pick up in terms of intensity, the wind begins to feel almost alive.

For one, you can see the effect that the wind is having. Trees are bending in different directions. Debris is flying all over the place. And if you are driving, you might be able to actually feel the wind moving your car.

But oddly enough, when the wind becomes violent enough, it makes noises.

So why is that?

The boring answer is that friction, which is created by the wind passing over objects, produces sound waves that travel with the wind.

Day #141 (4/4/2023)

“The pessimist complains about the wind; the optimist expects it to change; the realist adjusts the sails.”

— William Arthur Ward

Closing Thoughts

I do not mind a little wind. But when it starts to make noises, that is my cue to get indoors and watch a movie.
