365 Days of Python: Day #31 — Being Bored
Nowadays, free time comes at a premium.
Whether it is school, work, or other responsibilities, there is always something that is trying to take your free time away from you.
But when you end up having free time, how do you spend it?
Do you exercise?
Do you read?
Do you scroll through social media for hours?
How you spend your free time is none of my business; however, I want to recommend a free time hobby that is often overlooked: being bored.
I know what you are thinking.
Why would I spend my free time doing nothing? On a good day, I have an hour or two to do whatever I want. Therefore, I am not going to waste it sitting around.
This negative view on boredom is commonplace, and that is understandable. Nobody wants to waste valuable free time.
In contrast, though, I would argue that boredom can be as (if not, more) productive than a majority of the hobbies that people fill their free time with.
Being bored gives your brain a break. In today’s digital world, it is arguably too easy to scroll endlessly, and although most people would agree that endless scrolling is bad for your mental health, they still do it anyway.
