Merriam-Webster defines paradise as “a place or state of bliss, felicity, or delight”.

Programming is not traditionally seen as a paradise. It is home to long hours, moments of intense frustration, and sometimes a rush of dopamine when a block of code works as intended.

In my opinion, there is a phrase missing from Merriam-Webster’s definition: an escape.

Day #5 (11/19/2022)

“Life is paradise, and we are all in paradise, but we refuse to see it.”

— Fyodor Dostoevsky

Closing Thoughts

To me, programming is a paradise.

It is neither a place or state [of mind], but rather an escape from reality.
