After working for more than a year in the corporate world, I realized my daily routine was on a loop. I was not learning new things instead, I was doing the same set of things over and over again.

By the end of my probation period, I was pretty much sure that I want to leave my job and do something of my own.
Things like Freelance, Digital Nomad, Entrepreneur, etc were frequent in my search results.

I decided to up-skill myself before jumping in the game. Obviously, I wanted to stay in the Digital Marketing sector so, I started researching. Meanwhile, one day I was going through Quora and got to know about this platform known as InternStreet. I went to the website and fill up the interest form.
Next day, I got a call from their co-founder while I pretty much forgot them as I was going through a number of sites back then.

On the call their Co-founder Sushant directly contacted me and instead of pitching the course he asked me two questions, “Why are you interested in taking this course?”, “What are your goals?”.

In that 20–25 minutes call, he also explained how things will work in the course, why 1 on 1 mentoring has an upper hand on other learning methods and how it’ll benefit in my career.

I made up my mind and decided to go with the 8 weeks course.

Week 1

I was paired with a Mentor, a senior digital marketer from a famous start-up. He scheduled a direct call and introduced me to the basics of marketing, marketing funnel, buyer’s persona etc. He also told the timeline we’ll be working on. He also asked me to go through the course track and ask him for a direct call after the completion of 1st Module.
Since I had already left my job and was able to devote full time to the course. I completed the 1st module in 2 days and listed down the topics I needed to discuss.
I scheduled a call to him and he cleared all my doubts and also helped me get started with the project. That was creating a WordPress Blog. He checked on me regularly about the progress of my project through the Slack channel.

Truth to be told, I was really excited to learn these things quickly and wanted to jump to next topic. My mentor asked me to keep calm and to pay attention to small details — later in Content Marketing, I understood the reason.

Week 2

2nd Module was about the big buzz — SEO. I learned about keywords and generating traffic with the help of search engine optimization. I also learned using Yoast SEO plugin for my WordPress blog.
My mentor took another session while I was stuck with HTML tags and explained things to me. I was able to optimize my first blog post according to SEO as part of my project for the 2nd Module.

I was in a good position after 2 weeks and really enjoying working on Projects and detailed explanation by the Mentor.

Week 3

3rd Module was about Social Media Marketing and attracting visitors. I learnt different technique to attract visitors from Facebook, LinkedIn, Google Plus, Tumblr, Twitter, etc.
In the call, my Mentor also told me some growth hacking tricks to generate traffic from social media for free. He also explained to me the various technique of Social Media Paid Marketing, analyzing and changing strategies according to the insights. Learned using Facebook Ads Manager.
I also enjoyed making images on Canva along with scheduling Facebook page posts using Buffer.

I really was surprised how brands target us on our Social Media addiction

Week 4 & 5

This was Content Writing & Marketing phase. After going through the course Videos, I wrote 3 articles in a week (I never knew I can do that).
Later my mentor gave me instructions and guided me to recycle those into the blog (Medium), SlideShare presentation, YouTube video, how to guide, E-book on Canva(all three were from the related topic), Quora answers etc.
Later, he also took another video call dedicated to Do’s and Don’t on different Marketing Channels and how to distribute content and drive a traffic.

While I was learning through Course Content (watching videos, reading blogs and articles), I was in a constant touch with my Mentor working on mini projects (which somehow were related to each other), I also made connection to other students in the InternStreet Digital Marketing Student Community where we were sharing our projects, discussing topics and helping out each other.

Week 6

Email Marketing…the old mailbox which I had a perception of some kinda Dustbin full of Trash.
I learned how we can do wonders with mail addresses, proper subject lines, call to actions, email writing style, format, etc.
As part of my project, I learned using MailChimp. I was able to set up automation campaigns, I created templates etc. Initially, I faced a lot of difficulties doing this (especially the automation) and after my mentor’s guidance, I was a Pro.
It was like discovering something which one always had and never knew. I was also, shocked to know that there are 100s of tools for the same purpose. I also figured out, I had some cool letter writing skills. ;)

Week 7

I was one of those people who doesn’t know what’s paid search result (Google Ads). I learned about Search Engine Marketing and using Google Adwords, Keyword Planner, etc. Again my Mentor was there to help me with the Adwords dashboard. (my first thoughts were — there are so many things).
After that, it was time for measuring and analyzing the result of my efforts. I kept a tab on different metrics. Identifying the Key performance indicators and using Google Analytics for the performance of the website and making changes accordingly.
Ran a PPC campaign on my own and analyzed the performance.

Week 8

While the course track was formally over, I needed to put all together everything I had learned so far and developed an entire marketing campaign, across every stage of the funnel.
My mentor gave me some additional set of links and blogs to follow to maximize my future marketing efforts.

Meanwhile, Sushant too was constantly taking reviews of Mentor Calls. I contacted him if I can be associated with them as I really like the concept. A couple of weeks later, he offered me to join InternStreet as Social Media Manager.
Since January, I’m associated with them and also working as a Freelance Digital Marketing Consultant.

Basically, I’d recommend this course for these reasons:
Mentoring: It’s something unique about them, connecting with an expert directly.
Projects: What other course makes you work for a project before proceeding to next unit? This was the best.
Connection: As I was really interested in the Digital Marketing and enthusiastic about the company, I decided to associate with them and the team welcomed me.
