Ranking All Sneakers in the Off-White x Nike “The Ten” Collaboration
A few things before we begin here…
- Not that I care but please remember that this ranking is my personal opinion and nothing else. I am a huge fan of this collaboration and this is what I rank these shoes based on various details and personal bias.
- The list below takes multiple things into account such as my personal preference, hype, rarity and resale value.
- I would love to hear feedback on the post and what your favourites are!
Intro:
For those who don’t know in late 2017 Virgil Abloh, the owner of Off White began collaborating with Nike to create various sneakers and clothing.
Virgil was given the power to work with ten of Nike’s most iconic sneakers and design them to his liking and the result was extraordinary. The collaboration began with just ten sneakers but due to the extreme popularity, it has now grown to a total of 35 pairs.
What Nike has done over the past year is truly genius as they have let many of the design elements from “The Ten” inform the design of countless GR silhouettes. I’m talking things like their judicious use of that transparent ripstop material, exposed foam tongues and deconstructed elements. This has all just been deliberate diffusion to capture a larger consumer audience. In this way, they maintain the perceived exclusivity of the originals while helping boost their overall sales by keeping things on-trend. (shoutout Matt from CSX for this paragraph)
In more simple words this collaboration is amazing and Nike is the GOAT.
Sadly after 16 amazing months of releases from “the ten” collaboration, it has all come to a conclusion on February 7th, 2019 with the release of the AirMax 90 2.0 in black and Ore.
Overall this will go down as one of the iconic collaborations of all time and I am proud to say I own a great number of them.

35. Nike x Off-White Court Flare “Serena”
Although I am a huge fan of the collaboration, I have nothing good to say about this shoe. The silhouette is trash, to begin with, and then Virgil’s touch somehow made it even worse.

34. Off-White x Nike Zoom Mercurial
To be honest with ya’ll these cleats are trash and I believe the only reason they sold out and have resell value is due to the Kylian Mbappe advertisement in the world cup (who wore a much cleaner 1/1 version of the cleat).

33. Off White x Nike Zoom Fly Mercurial Orange
I was disappointed with this shoe as I felt it was sloppy, rushed and built for clowns. The sneaker has become essential for kids who can’t afford the better off-whites.

32. Off White x Nike Zoom Fly ‘Pink’
The sneaker intrigued me at first, but then a photo of a hairy fat dude wearing these with no socks was in circulation and all you could see was his cheesy toes, this alone makes this sneaker suck. PS. another shoe that kids with no $$ love.
Grade: D- (didn’t get an F because they are dope for females)

31. Off White x Converse Chuck Taylor ‘70s’
Good everyday beater for your average hypebeast, but overall pretty boring and much worse than the original.

30. Off White x Nike Zoom Fly Mercurial Black
Not Virgils best work, but a decent everyday beater and still have a fair price considering. PS: What was going through his mind when he added the dot?

29. Off White x Nike AirMax 97 ‘Black’
Not a bad shoe, just kind of boring and looks like something you could easily be found on shelves at Footlocker. REALLY lacks Virgil’s touch. PS: I feel like he was just running out of ideas when he was making these.

28. Off White x Nike Zoom Fly ‘black’
I’m a fan of these but they just aren’t nearly as good as the OG’s, making these much further down in my ranking than I originally wanted them to be.

27. Off White x Nike VaporMax ‘White’
These are dope, just nowhere as nice as the originals. Also, every sneakerhead owns these and they look really shitty once worn.

26. Off White x Nike AirMax 97 ‘Menta’
The concept of the shoe is dope and I love the way the swoosh blends with the silver concept of the sneaker but I still feel it was a bit lazy. As well I’m suspicious a very close fake or B grade is going around, as somehow every shop and big reseller have 50+ pairs of these even though they were supposed to be “limited”.
Grade: C+ (only ranked low on the list because of my suspicion)

25. Off White x Nike VaporMax 2.0 “Black”
Nothing much to say about the sneaker. Very clean looks amazing when deadstock, but very shitty after a few wears.

24. Off White x Nike Blazer ‘Hallows Eve’
I feel like these being rated this low are going to hurt some of yall’s feelings but I don’t care. The shoe in hand is nice but I find that they are hard to wear, especially outside of October.

23. Off White x Nike AF1 Volt
I originally had these ranked much higher as I love the sneaker and I feel like they are a true flex piece to complete an all-black outfit. The only issue I have with them is that kids in middle school have destroyed the “volt” colourway and Nike messed around and released an almost identical “GR” version of the sneaker around the same time. PS: I love the infant and toddler versions of the sneaker!
Grade: C+ (only because of the stigma behind volt clothing)
22. Off White x Nike “Serena”
Big ups to Virgil to giving the greatest female athlete of all time a few sneakers dedicated to her greatness, but I feel the colour scheme would look much better on something like an AF1. PS: Serena should make a baby with Lebron.

21. Off White x Nike Air Max 90 ‘Ores’
These interest me, I am yet to see a pair in hand given the low ranking but Virgil did a good job for an alternate colour scheme.

Again I am yet to see a pair of these in person so I can’t fully speak on them, but I am a fan and I will be picking up a pair of these soon as I like the clean look of them.

19. Off White x Nike AF1 ‘Black’
I currently have two pairs of these in hand and I love them. I feel like these would have been much better with a leather-based upper rather than suede. As well the Moma AF1 sort of drove the hype for these down.

18. Off White x Nike AF1 “OG TEN”
Most would have these much higher on the list, but I feel like these lack enthusiasm and are just boring, but due to hype and the fact that these are OG’s help them move up on the list.
PS: By far the worst of the original ten

17. Off White x Nike AF1 “Moma”
Don’t get me wrong I love the AF1 but I just don’t love this colorway. I would much rather rock the CDG x Supreme AF1s out rather than these. PS: the only reason these were ranked higher than the 2.0 black pair is due to how limited these truly are.

16. Off White x Nike Blazer 2.0 “Black”
Virgil did an excellent job designing all off white blazers. These ones in particular are extremely clean and fit into most outfits no matter the season. If you want these for personal I suggest grabbing them as soon as possible!

15.Off White x Nike AF1 “Complexcon”
Super clean, Super limited and Super hyped. The all-white leather upper puts it well above the other off white AF1s.

14. Off White x Converse Chuck Taylor “OG THE TEN”
These were originally supposed to be the least hyped out of the original “TEN” but ended up releasing roughly 8 months late and were an instant hit with resell prices reaching well over 1000USD from the get-go.

13. Off White x Nike Presto “Black”
Virgil did a crazy job on all three prestos and they are all slowly climbing to the highest-priced 2.0 off white Nike silhouettes. As you can probably see I am a huge fan off all off white presto with the first colorway appearing at the 13th spot on the list.

12. Off White x Nike VaporMax “OG THE TEN”
The regular Nike VaporMax is a newer futuristic-looking shoe, but these seem to have a more retro/vintage look to them due to the big padded tongue and white laces. Overall a very interesting design by Virgil.

11. Off White x Nike Blazer “Serena”
Big shout out once again to Virgil for making another shoe dedicated to the greatest female athlete of all time. These blazers are by far my favourite out of the three Serena inspired sneakers as they incorporate many dope features such as a pink to purple colour transition on the thick midsole as well as a big bold Nike swoosh.

10. Off White x Nike Presto “White”
This sneaker is Iconic and truly THE sneaker of summer 2018. The sneaker just has so many possible ways you can rock them, as it doesn’t matter if it’s jeans, shorts or joggers these shoes will look clean. P.S many people inspired by John Mayer were tie-dying these and it was extremely dope to see.
Grade B+

9. Off White x Jordan 1 “UNC”
Virgil and Jordan’s brand underachieved on creating these iconic Jordan 1s. The quality control was horrible as no two pairs are exactly identical making it next to impossible to legit check them. The fakes have gotten extremely good due to the poor QC, dropping the off white UNC to 7th on my list.

8. Off White x Nike Zoom Fly “OG The Ten”
When you can take a sneaker that no hypebeast really cares about and make it a hit you know you did something right. Overall a quality output from Virgil and by far the best out of the three zoom flys.

7. Off White x Jordan 1 “White”
I was originally going to place these much lower on my list but as I was researching for this blog post I heard a story about these and it made them that much better for me. When Virgil was creating the OG Ten he was supposed to release a version of these as the first Jordan 1 of the Off White x Nike collaboration, but when he was walking around the airport someone mistook them for Nike Dunks which led Virgil to cancel them and release the Jordan 1 Chicago instead. “Luckily” for the consumer, Virgil made some changes to the sneaker and eventually released them but as a European Exclusive sneaker.

6. Off White x Nike Hyperdunk “OG The Ten”
Once again, when you take a sneaker that nobody really cares about and make it something big you know you have done something right. The sneaker overall is extremely clean and it is cool to see many professional and college basketball players rock it on the court.

5. Off White x Nike AirMax 90 “OG THE TEN”
I am truly surprised some people have these ranked as low as they do, the sneaker is overall extremely clean and the AirMax 90 will forever be Iconic. A classic for sure!

4. Off White x Jordan 1 “Chicago”
The most hyped release in recent history is still somehow not ranked number 1 overall? Not even in the top 3??? How could this be??? Well to begin with everyone wore these as a popularity contest and that kind of killed the hype for me. But overall a quality output from Virgils ends on an Iconic Jordan silhouette.

3. Off White x Nike AirMax 97 “OG THE TEN”
Most will question this decision on my end but I feel like it is a sleeper out of the original TEN. Just an Iconic silhouette in a super clean colorway and will be going up in price A LOT in the near future.

2. Off White x Nike Blazer “OG THE TEN”
This sneaker is amazing and if you disagree you are wrong. The all cream upper with the big Nike swoosh and exposed tongue just looks phenomenal on this sneaker! PS: This sneaker alone brought back the blazer for Nike. PPS: These sneakers look amazing beat up!

- These prestos are THE BEST shoe in the collection by FAR. They are better then perfect and if you knew anything about sneakers in late 2017, you knew these were something better then good.
