5 productivity hacks in life I’ve learnt

1. Talk less, listen more.

People like to talk and they prefer to be with someone who listens more. So be that someone. Try not to disagree. No one likes to face disagreement. At the right time, offer your alternative view and ask what he or she thinks.

2. Never discuss with someone who is acting defensive.

If a person is defensive, it means he or she’s more interested to find flaws in your argument. This discussion will not be constructive.

3. Messages are more efficient than emails. A well written email is more efficient than meetings.

Meetings are painfully long and people usually deviate from the agenda. if you want to meet, set agendas and keep to the time. Leave if the person is late for more than 30 minutes. Leave on time once time is up. Respect yourself. This way, the person will understand you treasure time.

4. Time is more important than money.

Read the 4 hour work week. Many will try to tell you it’s hype. But there are principles you can learn. Outsource as much as possible. Enjoy life.

5. Think before you talk.

I know this is pretty obvious. But really, practice it. When you are about to say something, think at least 2 times. It helps you from screwing up.

Bonus tip: Read “Elements of Style”. Write better and simpler. No one likes to read complex, long sentences.
