Option B: stop committing crimes.

So, are you a saint, sir?

Have you never violated a parking rule by accident? Because a Princeton professor was arrested for one parking ticket.

Have you always crossed the street at the crosswalk? If you’ve ever not done so, be happy you aren’t Emilio Mayfield, who was violently arrested and jailed by Stockton, CA police.

Have you never violated a traffic law? Because, well, there’s that situation in Texas with Sandra Bland. And three years prior, in a case you probably never heard about, Don Elmer was arrested and thrown in jail for the heinous offense of... not having his seat belt fastened.

And these are people who actually did some obscenely trivial offense. Look up the case of Miami Gardens, FL, where police routinely arrested and jailed people for trumped up charges, including pre-teen children, the elderly, and the intellectually challenged.

In Texas, the only crimes that cops explicitly cannot throw you in jail for are speeding… and inexplicably, having an open container. Across the country, there is objective data that shows that when LEOs interact with non-caucasian individuals, use of force is escalated, arrests are more likely, offenses charged are higher, and incarceration is more likely.

Real life doesn’t agree with your wild assertions.
