Burnt Coffee

My coffee doesn’t taste that great,

But it’s ok.

As I sit here and study the word God has urged in my heart, I see him walk in. He’s loud and carries an unwelcome fragrance. He sits directly in my line of sight. I don’t notice for myself, but I’m sure one or two other diners looked at him with disgust. I probably would have too if I hadn’t been convicted by Jeremiah 5.

“The wicked have prospered, yet portray no regard for the needy. “

There is an unction in my heart. I should do something within my power to bless him.

We want to change the world, but only on a large scale.

Major moves…

Change nations…

Often…, too often, we overlook the small thing. Being friendly to a neighbor. Actually calling a brother to ask how they are. Rather than commenting on a Facebook post, stop by a sister’s home to check on her.

The busyness of life can overwhelm us. Work, home, church, etc., but honestly, it’s time to take some authority over the thing we have the ability to affect…

Yourself.

Do something different today. Help someone right now. Watch it trickle down until there is a river flowing into a sea.

Maybe the coffee won’t taste so bad then.
