You were staring into those big blue eyes, feeling at peace with the world. Then you felt a tap on your shoulder. You had completely forgotten that you were not alone. An intruder to your quiet, isolated, peaceful mind. The voice you heard in your ear saying ‘you’ll never get another chance at this and you’re going to fail.’ You ignored the voice and looked back into those eyes, noticing this time the curls of her blonde hair. ‘You’re going to be alone forever’ — the voice was relentless. Doubting your every move. ‘You’re going to mess this up, go home and sit in your bed crying just like you do every time you speak to her.’ The voice was right. You weren’t really conscious of doing it but, without even speaking to her again, you turned around and started walking away. Looking at the ground and your hands in your pockets. You wished the voice would stop but it seemed to feed on your insecurities. It became stronger. Some days you didn’t even get out of bed. Shutting out everyone in your life just because of this voice. You were sure that you had to get help to get better but you didn’t think you were worth it. Unworthy of doing anything less than sitting here in bed, thinking about what you should have done when looking into those big blue beautiful eyes.
