I am excited to share that I am joining Chargebee to help accelerate the company’s growth in its subscription management and billing product.
In the last few years, I have become obsessed with subscription business. A transition from a trillion dollar single transaction-based economy to a long-term subscription-based economy looks very real to me. This transition creates an entry-point for Chargebee — orchestrating a workflow between merchants and customers. From frictionless business operations for the merchant to a dazzling customer experience for its customers.
Why does the industry need a separate product for subscription and billing management? Traditional revenue management software products were written decades ago and designed for transactional digital commerce with brittle integrations; and had poor customer experience. The force fitting of subscription to the transactional data models tears a traditional billing product at its seam.
Subscription management can also be visualized as a PaaS to the underlying payment infrastructure such as Stripe, Braintree, Paypal, and Authorize.net. Merchants mechanically stitch their storefront to payment infrastructure, which works in the short-term, but a subscription lifecycle is more than just taking a payment instrument and reinitiating a scheduled job every month. The business operations on revenue side such as accounting, taxation, compliance, and reconciliation soon catch up and impede revenue growth. Whereas on the customer experience side, it becomes a heady mix of invoicing, engagement, personalization, discounting, and subscription management.
With a goal of removing the friction between merchants and customers, Chargebee has built a fantastic subscription management and billing product helping merchants serve software and physical goods. Over 6̵,̵0̵0̵0̵ 7,000¹ companies such as Okta, Fujitsu, Soylent, Percona, Study.com, Calendly use its product today and rave about the experience!
