La Llama Farm
A day trip top the llama farm in Cusco
Arriving to the airport was a very fun moment because the fun part of the trip was going to begin when touching the Cusco territory. The rain hitting the floors every passenger covering their bodies for them to be dry. Getting in the bus was a fascinating moment because of the motivation of arriving to the new hotel and receiving your roommate. Some people where very happy and others very concerned of the altitude, afraid of getting soroche. It was an exhausting trip from lima until arriving to Cusco soil, the bus was a very calm place it was like being in Miami laying in the beach with the sun hitting you in the face. Being in the bus for about 1 hour made me naughties and because of the altitude it was a very difficult moment because of headaches that really made me feel bad and sleepy.Walking around and taking photos of animals was a very fun moment. In the grey bus going to our hotel in the sacred valley we had a stop in the llama farm,we went the first day to see the andean animals,It was a very good moment, people were very tired after the trip but most did not refuse to walk out of the bus,we had fun watching the llama, alpaca, vucuña and guanaco while learning from what the guide said.We all started to take photos with the animals and we had a great time. The llamas were used a mean of transporting leather of blankets in the Inka’s empire, the guanacos weren’t domesticated and were hunted for their meat. The vicuna was the other andean domesticated animal besides the llama and it was very important because of their very rich leather. Also the alpaca was a very important animals because of it’s leather, it was used for many reasons for example blankets, hats, scarfs and many other things.
Llamas are very cute and very fun animals that you should be a bit scared when they pull their ears back because they are ready to spit in your face. In the farm there was a little shop that provided everything from twig and skittles to ice creams. It is a little expensive but it is a really good place to chill after a long travel from Lima to Cusco, a mate de coca is the best thing to have in that moment because it really help you to accomodate to the altitude and because you are going to be stuck in a bus for another hour. Lemon candies are very good for the altitude and are really good.
