2205 is a duplex stainless steel, with a chemical composition of nearly equal proportions of austenite and ferrite. This combination allows the alloy to be stronger and tougher than standard austenitic steels. Duplex stainless steels like 2205 also maintain good weldability in their thickest sections, and they are much more resistant to stress corrosion cracking than standard austenitic steels.
Oshwin Overseas stocks a large number of stainless steel plate, including SSC-6MO, our superaustenitic 6% molybdenum alloy; a full line of the 300 series austenitic stainless steel plate, which includes high heat-resistant stainless steels; 410 martensitic stainless steel plate; 410S ferritic stainless steel plate; duplex stainless steel plate, including “lean” and “super” duplex grades; and 17–4PH precipitation hardening stainless steel plate.
Oshwin Overseas can provide you with nearly any shape or configuration.
