Yes , that is a good point. While mathematicians tend to use (ρ, θ, φ) for spherical coordinates where φ is the polar angle, physicists instead use (r, φ, θ) where θ is now the polar angle. Since most physics texts make use of the latter notation, I am more used to it but I guess it just depends on preference and context you are using it in.
