Journal #4
There was a time where Jeanette was faced with fear. Her and Brian got enrolled in Welch Elementary. Jeanette and Brian were bullied because kids said that they were poor and didn’t look clean. Everyday at lunch Jeanette would be circled around by a group of girls and beat up. She wanted to fight back but she never did. “ The janitor started putting the chairs up on the tables. I walked outside trying to hold my head up high, and Dinitia and her gang surrounded me and it began”. Jeanette would never tell her parents or any teachers because the Rex Wall’s family raised their kids to fight there own battles and she didn’t want to be a wimp about this issue. I have a similar experience that relates to this. I have been enrolled in a private school all the way up to seventh grade. It got to a point where my parents couldn’t afford it anymore so I transitioned into a public school for eighth grade. I was worried about kids being mean and scary, because kids at private school were pretty main stream and not mean. As my 8th grade year went on I realized it wasn’t bad at all. So my story relates to Jeanette's issue, but I didn’t get beat up.
