In 2021 54% of people died from suicide 43 died from murder and the other 3% unknown.All of those deaths were caused due to firearms.So far this year their has been about 16,553 deaths.Gun violence is a problem because many people die for no reason or they find it as another way to take their own life and it can affect children,teens,an adults.I belive we need to come together as citizens of the united states and work together to end gun violence.
My first reason on why we should end gun violence is the impacts it leaves on children and teens.Being exposed to gun violence can have an effect on the physiological and mental well being of children and teens.Approximately 3 million american children witness gun violence every year.They are also harmed when they witness a friend or family member is killed with a gun or when they hear or see gunshots.
My second reasoning is people get their life taken everyday due to gun violence and something has to be done about it.On average 316 people are shot in murders, assaults, suicides and suicide attempts, etc. Everyday 106 people die from gun violence and the other 210 are shot and survive.One way we can reduce these killings is by ending legal immunity for gun manufacturers. No one benefits from frivolous lawsuits.Holding manufacturers liable for the misuse of their products, experts say, would incentivize them to make firearms safer.Another way to reduce is to pass gun laws that actually reduce gun violence.A measure that has attracted law makers attentions is extreme risk protections orders also referred to as gun violence restraining orders.
My 3rd reasoning on why we should stop gun violence is going to refer back to my first 2 reasons.As said above, gun violence can impact children and teens physiological and mental well being and many people die from gun violence and that includes children and teens.Every year about 7,957 children and teens are shot in the U.S. Every year 117,345 people are shot.Out of all those people 15,343 are murdered, 76,725 people survive gunshot injuries, 34,566 are intentionally shot by someone else and survive, 23,891 die from gun suicide, 3,554 survive an attempted gun suicide, 492 killed unintentionally, 547 are killed by legal intervention, 1,376 are shot by legal intervention and survive, 347 die but the intent was unknown 4,471, are shot and survive but the intent is unknown, 547 women are killed by their husband or male dating partner.This shows all different types of acts from gun violence.
As citizens of the United States we need to work together to end gun violence.It has an impact on the physiological and mental well being of children and teens.Many people die daily due to gun violence and that is one of the many reasons it needs to be stopped.This is important to me because I feel like innocent people die everyday and it’s sad to know that and some people might have to worry everyday about being shot because not everyone lives in a nice and safe area.We as a community should come together and end gun violence once and for all.
